The Baja Designs Jeep Wrangler Rubicon JL

The Baja Designs Jeep is a 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon JL we built to be the ultimate all-around off-road rig. The goal was simple: something fast enough to rip through the desert but still capable of crawling some of the toughest trails in Moab. Over the years, this Jeep has done it all, remote camping trips, a run down the Baja Peninsula to La Paz, Mexico, and plenty of rock crawling in Johnson Valley. Whatever we throw at it, it delivers.

Built for the Trail and Beyond

It’s sitting on 17-inch Raceline Ryno Beadlocks wrapped in 37-inch Falken Wildpeak MTs, paired with Fox Factory Racing 3.0 Internal Bypass shocks and a JKS short-arm lift for a dialed-in suspension setup. For protection, we went with full CRC bumpers and armor, plus a winch tucked into the front bumper for when things get sketchy.

Lighting the Way with Baja Designs

Lighting is where this Jeep really comes alive. Up front, a set of Baja Designs LP9s handle the main beam, backed up by amber XL80s for near-field dust lighting and a OnX6+ 50 Inch Roof Mount Light Kit for the far away stuff. On the A-pillars, you’ll find Squadron Pros that make perfect ditch lights, and underneath, multiple rock lights keep the trail visible at night. All of it is wired into an sPOD BantamX, giving us full control while keeping the wiring clean.

Ready for the Long Trips

While it can wheel with the best of them, this Jeep also knows how to camp in style. Up top is a Sherpa Starlight roof rack with a 60/40 split design. Most of the time, it carries our GFC Superlite tent for camping trips, but when we pull the tent off, we can remove the front section of the rack to enjoy the Bestop Sunrider for an open air experience.

This kind of modular design keeps things flexible for whatever the journey demands from hardcore trails to remote camping.

Where MGP Caliper Covers Fit In

The whole point of this build was to keep it as functional and capable as possible. And with the addition of custom MGP caliper covers with LIT technology, we added a touch of style without sacrificing performance. They’ve been on for almost three years now and have held up through everything, from cruising Baja beaches to tackling the wildest trails in Moab.

Different Builds, Same Attention to Detail

At MGP, we’re proud to support builds that reflect creativity, capability, and individuality. The Baja Designs Jeep is a perfect example of a purpose-built machine where no element is wasted, and every part plays a role, including the caliper covers.

This is what we live for: products that enhance real builds, used by real off-roaders doing incredible things.
