MGP (Marshall Genuine Products) is a U.S.A. Manufacturing Company located in San Diego, California specializing in Caliper Covers.  MGP incorporates technologies developed from the manufacturing of Titanium, Stainless Steel and Aluminum for the Aerospace and Recreation Industries.  MGP Caliper Covers are a culmination of those technologies and 26 years of engineering experiences to bring a much needed addition to the automotive aftermarket accessory business. 

 

MGP President, Mike Barland began development of the product after purchasing aftermarket wheels for his vehicle.  The wheels were larger in diameter and opened up the viewing area behind the wheel.  The aftermarket wheel design was aesthetically pleasing but exposed one of the most unappealing components on the vehicle – the Brake Caliper. 

 

Aftermarket brake kits were expensive and the vehicle did not need the extra braking power.  The options on the market were plastic covers held on with silicon or aluminum covers held on with double back tape.  Painting the Caliper was a messy, dirty, all day event yielding unsatisfactory results in aesthetics.  An obvious need was identified.

 

The challenge was to develop a quality form fitting Caliper Cover to meet factory wheel clearances and fasten securely for easy installation.   This endeavor took a time frame of 4 years.  After testing multiple methods, testing confirmed a clip and fastener system was best to hold the Caliper Cover.  The stainless steel fastening system is patent pending and the design is flexible across many applications.

 

Now customers have a choice of Caliper Covers with a product made with U.S. A. engineering excellence, adding style and color to the car as well as function by substantially reducing brake dust.
